Dumplings

Dumplings are a small ball of flour (about an inch in diameter) combined witha few other ingredients, such as fat, eggs and liquid. They are sometimes filled, and then cooked in liquid such as water, soup, stock or gravy, until done. A dumpling can also be sweetened dough wrapped around fruit, such as an apple, baked and served as a dessert. Some sweet dumplings are poached in a sweet sauce and served with cream.
