When you run out of something, what do you do ?  The solution is to substitute an ingredient called for in a recipe with another one, but be careful because it doesn't always work. More 

A comment previously posted on my "Ask Sarah Message Board": There's a lot of information (here)! I can tell you I have printed out the pages about substitutions. I used vinegar for cream of tartar and it worked very well. Thanks for it!
