Bartlett Pear Brunch Compote

Recipe

Serves 6 - 8

A sweet and juicy pear with green skin which turns yellow when ripe. Bartletts hold their shape well for poaching or baking. They're popular for canning as well as snacking.  
bullet 3 fresh Bartlett pears
bullet 2 oranges, peeled and sliced
bullet 1 small cantaloupe, cut into chunks
bullet 1/2 pound grapes, halved and seeded
bullet 1 cup canned apricots
bullet 3 tablespoons sugar
bullet 3 tablespoons orange or pineapple juice

Peel, core and slice pears in wedges. Combine pears, oranges, cantaloupe and grapes. Drain apricots; puree until smooth in blender or food processor. Combine in small saucepan with sugar; heat until sugar dissolves. Add juice. Chill. Pour over fruit and toss lightly to coat. Serve chilled in compotes.
